The very circumstance, which...

"The very circumstance, which your suffering sense deems wrathful and afflictive, Love can make an angel entertained unawares" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 574). These encouraging words I applied to experiences which befell me some time ago.

One winter morning I went downtown in a taxi, and as I was leaving the car, my coat caught in the door, unknown to the driver or to me. The car was briskly started, and I was dragged a number of feet before it was brought to a stop.

For several weeks the effects of nervous shock were aggressive. I was cared for at home by two Christian Science nurses and had the help of an experienced practitioner. I felt sincerely thankful for the competence and consideration of those two nurses who ministered to my physical and spiritual needs. For the unfailing love and quiet assurance of spiritual victory which the practitioner manifested in all the varied situations which arose, I have a deep and abiding sense of loving gratitude.
