I had an experience which proved to me the ever-present protecting power of God. One year, as the football season approached, the high school of our city was presented with equipment to be used in photographing the plays during the games.

Being a member of the board of education and having had considerable experience in photography, I was asked to operate the motion picture camera during the games. This activity required setting up the equipment on the roof of the press box high above the bleachers.

On this particular evening I had finished exposing the first roll of film and started to sit down preparatory to reloading the camera. As I sat down, the seat collapsed, and I fell backward off the roof, striking a railing, then falling to the floor of the press box below. The very instant I realized what had happened, I held to the one thought: God is here.
