THE DEMONSTRATION OF PERFECT MANHOOD

Much of the stress and strain of present-day living results from prevalent beliefs in the reality and power of matter. Therefore, it is necessary for the student of Christian Science to examine the measure of his progress Spiritward. Does he adhere to the Scriptural teaching that man is God's image and likeness? Does he understand and know himself as in reality spiritual and perfect? His freedom and protection from all material theories and beliefs are in proportion to his ability to answer these questions in the affirmative.

Jesus gave the following promise (John 8:32): "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This is, however, only part of what he said. His full statement was (verse 31), "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The Master pointed out a definite requirement that must be fulfilled if the truth is to be experienced. In other words, the student must not merely think about the truth that makes free. He must live it in daily life. He must consistently demonstrate his spiritual, perfect status as the man of God's creating.
