CERTAINTY IN THE PRACTICE OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

In Christian Science the application of the spiritual understanding of the power of God, Truth, to correct what is untrue is as natural and certain as is the application of mathematical truths to correct miscalculations. Such spiritual understanding includes the recognition of perfect God, the all-knowing Mind, and perfect man, His coexistent idea. Thus Christian Science treatment denies and rejects the existence of anything that is not in accord with the supreme laws of Truth, Life, and Love.

Through prayer—communion with the all-knowing Mind—the belief in evil and its power is wholly excluded from consciousness, and the supremacy, allness, omnipotence, and ever-presence of God, absolute good, are seen and felt.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter, —and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." Thus our Leader enunciates the certain effect of the correct application of the truth, and one learns that when consciousness is in absolute accord with the one Mind, God, healing of sickness and suffering is inevitable.
