REWARDS OF DISCIPLINE

One of the essential factors in the education of a disciple is that he must yield to discipline. And this is true of the disciple of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy writes in an article entitled "Fidelity" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 340): "There is no excellence without labor; and the time to work, is now. Only by persistent, unremitting, straightforward toil; by turning neither to the right nor to the left, seeking no other pursuit or pleasure than that which cometh from God, can you win and wear the crown of the faithful."

Here is the discipline required of the faithful disciple of Christian Science: to follow steadfastly in the way pointed out in the words and works of Christ Jesus, made clear by the teachings of our beloved Leader.

One of the basic points in the success of the Master was his absolute trust in and obedience to God, not only as his Father but as the Father of all. He said (John 8:29),"I do always those things that please him."
