I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to learn of Christian Science as a pupil in Sunday School. The teachers were so helpful in explaining how to use the truth in daily experience that I never had an illness of any significant duration. I learned the basic laws of Life, given in the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and how to use these laws in daily living.

When in my teens, I had a painful swelling on the back of my neck. It did not yield to my own efforts, and my mother told me to decide whether to have medical attention or Christian Science treatment.

I chose the latter, and a practitioner very lovingly recommended that I study the words of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 242), "In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error,—self-will, self-justification, and self-love,—which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death."
