THE SACREDNESS AND POTENCY OF THE CHRIST

One of the beautiful contributions of Christian Science to its students is its accurate portrayal of the Christ as the Son of God. It was the Christ, his divine nature, which gave Jesus authority for his marvelous words and works. It was this divinity which was manifested in his humaneness, in his understanding love for and tender compassion on sick and sinful humanity, in his desire to save mankind from the false education of the ages.

The Christ is spiritual, pure, sacred, powerful, heavenly. Unfolding to human consciousness, this ever-present, divine influence, often referred to in Christian Science as Christ, Truth, awakens the desire for spiritual reality, the longing to be good, to be Godlike and pure. It is the mission of Christ, Truth, to express God's holy power, to reveal man's inseparability from the infinite nature of good.

It is the sacred power of the Christ which enables students of Christian Science to heal themselves and others of physical, financial, social, or moral afflictions. Christian Science reveals, as well as enables its students to demonstrate, the spiritual fact that it is divinely natural for God's man to be healthy, successful, sinless, even as it is divinely unnatural, yes, impossible, for him to be ill or sinful, limited or unhappy, or a failure. When the power of the Christ is brought to bear upon abnormalities in human experience, it eliminates the difficulties in thought and then restores health and harmony outwardly.
