SPIRITUAL WEAPONS AND PRAYER

THE present race for superiority in material armaments leads the Christian Scientist to consider the nature of the spiritual weapons which will help to establish the promise made at the birth of Jesus (Luke 2:14), "On earth peace, good will toward men."

The Christian Scientist's weapons, both preventive and defensive, are always at hand unerring in their effect. They never become obsolete. These weapons are wholly spiritual. They are the great, living truths which were used by Jesus in his daily work and unveiled to us by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in her writings. They are available to all men, and our only sure means of benefiting from their use is spiritual prayer.

The effectiveness of prayer is enhanced in the degree that one establishes in himself a clear sense of the omnipotence of God, good, and of man's true nature as the indestructible, perfect idea of Spirit. Such prayer calls for the highest degree of consecration to good. It rejects the material sense of existence as unreal and identifies all men as sons of God, one universal brotherhood of spiritual ideas.
