"HEIRS OF GOD"

Some of the most aggressive arguments which have deceived and enslaved humanity are those based upon the false beliefs pertaining to heredity. It has been assumed that certain diseases and undesirable dispositional traits are transmitted from parent to child. Those who have believed this cruel assumption may have found themselves burdened with problems of health and human relationship, from which they could entertain little hope of release.

With its divine revelation of the allness of Spirit, God, and of man's perfect selfhood as God's likeness, Christian Science refutes age-old suppositions based upon the belief in the reality of matter or of mortal mind. It teaches that since imperfection is totally unreal because not of God, it cannot be transmitted; it cannot perpetuate itself. This Science also teaches that man is truly the child of God and hence can have nothing but which is derived from Deity.

Mary Baker Eddy states plainly in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 242), "Unless you fully perceive that you are the child of God, hence perfect, you have no Principle to demonstrate and no rule for its demonstration."
