WAKING FROM THE DREAM

"The history of error is a dream-narrative. The dream has no reality, no intelligence, no mind; therefore the dreamer and dream are one, for neither is true nor real." These statements are by Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 530). Everyone has had proved to him at some time, by his night dream, that the dreamer and the dream are one.

The dream state of consciousness produces its own dream creation. If one is the victim of some terrible disease in a night dream, it is not necessary to take drugs or to have an operation to get rid of this sickness. What one needs to do is to awake, and the dream creation vanishes into its native nothingness. It is always an illusion, even though it seems very real and formidable in the dream state of consciousness.

On page 487 of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes: "Spirit is all-knowing; this precludes the need of believing. Matter cannot believe, and Mind understands. The body cannot believe. The believer and belief are one and are mortal."
