TRUE RESILIENCE

A Shock absorber not only absorbs the shock, but it absorbs the rebound from the shock so that the energy of sudden impulses, the violent reactions in machinery or structures, are eliminated almost instantly. According to its resilience, machinery is capable of withstanding stress and strain without permanent rupture or deformation.

Similarly, as we let resilience and buoyancy be our mental shock absorbers, we spring back to normalcy when mortal mind would shock us with its fear and tension. Christ Jesus' reaction to good as real and his refusal to indulge emotional reactions showed the resilience of his thought and his spiritual maturity.

After suffering for many years from emotional tension, a woman I know turned to a Christian Science practitioner for help. She told of a costive bowel condition of years' standing. Her physician had been able to give her only temporary relief, and an operation had proved ineffective.
