UNIVERSAL LOVE—THE DIVINE WAY

When Christ Jesus met with his disciples on the eve of his betrayal, he referred to himself as "the way." And he said that no man could go to the Father except through him, that is, through walking in the same Christly way that he did.

Everything that Jesus accomplished was done through love, that unselfed love which acknowledges and obeys God as the Father and Mother of all. This all-embracing, all-sustaining, and all-pervading power is ever present and available to everyone. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 12, 13): "In divine Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail themselves of God as 'a very present help in trouble.' Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals. It is the open fount which cries, 'Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters.'"

Moses, in his close communion with God, demonstrated Love's universal availability when, in the wilderness, he struck the rock and saw an abundant flow of water provided for the thirsting Israelites. And Jesus, confronted with a hungering multitude, turned to divine Love to meet the human need. The fact that there were twelve basketfuls of food left over was a hint of God's unlimited reservoir of good everywhere available.
