Hymn No. 3 in the Christian Science Hymnal...

Hymn No. 3 in the Christian Science Hymnal tells us that a grateful heart is a garden, a fortress, and a temple. Having been brought up in Christian Science from a very early age, I have learned to appreciate the importance of gratitude. Therefore I wish to share a few of the manifold blessings that have been mine through studying and applying the truth.

When I was a child, such things as earache, sore throat, and difficulty at school were handled quickly and lovingly for me with the help of my mother and a Christian Science practitioner. I was wonderfully protected during two years of service in the Army Air Force in World War II.

Upon being discharged, I found it very difficult, because of overcrowded conditions, to find a college which would accept me. Through increased understanding of man's rightful place, I was accepted in a fine college, and I enjoyed four years of harmonious study. Since then, Christian Science has helped my wife, our two children, and me to prove God's allness and the nothingness of matter. So-called children's diseases, accidents, lack, inharmony in business, all have been proved unreal. Sometimes the demonstrations of Truth have come slowly, at other times quickly. But they have always come when we trusted implicitly in God, the Giver of all good.
