A Happy and Important Event

[Extracts from a report prepared for the Reading Room Division by the librarian of a branch church Reading Room]

After several stall meetings and many weeks of consecrated prayer and effort, an important and happy event took place in our Christian Science Reading Room. It was an open house held on Sunday afternoon, November 4, 1956, to acquaint the public with the facilities which a Reading Room provides for study and for obtaining literature on Christian Science.

Our Reading Room had not held an open house for many years. Since our staff was desirous of making this occasion an opportunity to help spiritualize the thought of the church members and those in the community with regard to the holiday season, it seemed a good time to go ahead with such an event. Accordingly, approval was obtained from the executive board. Members of our stall of thirty-four made use of the Reading Room in their prayerful consideration of the divine, purpose of such an undertaking.
