APPLYING GOD'S LAW

A child given a penny in each hand will usually accept the simple explanation that in arithmetical addition the sum of these pennies is represented by the figure two. When he comprehends this fact, he is ready for the further explanation that the sum of two pennies in each hand represents the figure four. His capacity to understand and believe mathematical facts expands in proportion as he is able to prove the results.

In his schooling, a child follows through the various stages of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. If he is inclined, his studies may take him into higher mathematics. Each progressive step, however, must be accompanied by a thorough understanding and application of the laws of mathematics.

Analogies between the laws of mathematics and the laws of God, utilized in the application of Christian Science, are often cited, and in every instance they bring out a vital and important similitude. When we understand divine law and apply the simple and fundamental rules of Christian Science in our daily affairs, we can depend on the results which their use will bring.
