"TO WHOM SHALL WE GO?"

When Christ Jesus asked the twelve disciples if any of them would stray from his teachings, "Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life" (John 6:68). The works which Jesus accomplished were a demonstration of his words. Peter had listened to the Master's teachings and was a witness to many of his healing works. Therefore Peter knew that the words spoken by Jesus were the truth and that their proof was eternal life.

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 370), "To be immortal, we must forsake the mortal sense of things, turn from the lie of false belief to Truth, and gather the facts of being from the divine Mind." In Science, Mind and Truth are among the synonyms for God. Jesus turned to God, Truth, to heal all discordant conditions. The power and goodness of God's presence were so clear to him that he was able instantly to reject all inharmony as unreal. Jesus saw man created by God, as the image of Truth, the idea of Mind, complete, good, free, and whole. Jesus' correct view of God's nature and man's likeness to God was the truth which enabled him to do his wonderful works.

Inasmuch as the Christ is as eternal as God, the healing and saving method employed by the Master is available to all today and for all time. When unhappy conditions arise which need correcting, we can turn to God as did Jesus. We accept the Christ when we understandingly affirm that the power of God is present to heal, to bless, and to save. We turn from error when we realize that matter has no power to hurt or to help us, although it seems to do so when we accept and hold to the belief that it has power.
