My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came in 1918 when my mother was healed of a serious physical ailment after medical doctors had said that there was nothing that they could do to help her. A few hours after help in Christian Science was requested, she arose from her bed healed. I was very grateful for this healing, but I did not seriously take up the study of Christian Science until I myself had exhausted other means of deliverance from a serious physical condition.

At that time I was on a strict diet and had just obtained a new supply of medicine. One day I felt that I was passing on, and I turned frantically to God in my distress. The thought came to me to get my mother's copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from a dresser drawer, and I struggled out of bed and found it. After reading awhile I arose, threw out all of the medicine, and joined the family at the dinner table, where I ate a hearty meal. Since then God has been my only physician, and I have had many beautiful healings.

Constipation was quickly overcome through my reading the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Badly sprained ankles and a fractured bone in one leg yielded to the truth after I had done prayerful metaphysical work and had studied the Lord's Prayer and the ninety-first Psalm. While I was cooking, some boiling grease spattered over my face and neck. I immediately declared the truth of God's allness and realized the unreality of accidents. When I removed the grease, there was no evidence of a burn.
