In the first sentence of the Preface...

In the first sentence of the Preface to the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, gives us a wonderful promise (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I have proved this truth very often, and I am most grateful.

One beautiful experience occurred which I should like to share with others through the pages of our periodicals. Very late one evening I apparently dislocated my elbow. Great fear was expressed by the other members of the household, who wished to call a doctor. But I asked that I be left alone, and when my request had been granted, I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help. She came to see me immediately, and her love and understanding comforted and assured me of my perfection as a child of God. In addition, she turned my thought to God's perfect universe, in which everything is always in its right place.

About half an hour after her visit, whilst I was reading the citations which she had given me from the Bible and from our textbook, I felt a great sense of peace and of the presence of the Christ. At that moment the bone moved gently back into place, and I was healed.
