NO FALSE GROWTH IN MIND

WHAT could be more lovely than to pray with sincerity and a genuine desire for growth in grace and then to watch grace unfold. It always unfolds in natural beauty and goodness in our daily experience. It was said of Christ Jesus that he "increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man" (Luke 2:52). True growth is governed by divine intelligence. It is a spiritual expression or manifestation of God with us.

In the Glossary of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy we read this definition (p. 583): "CHRIST. The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." We have this "divine manifestation of God" ever with us, and the healing ministry of Christian Science is based upon it. As we realize the eternal presence or manifestation of good, it dislodges error in human experience, and thereby we prove that God's presence is ever available and effectual to heal, uplift, and strengthen. Our need is to keep our thought receptive, sincere, and humble in order to demonstrate the ever-presence of good in our lives.

A woman telephoned a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help. She said that there were several ugly warts on her hands. They were painful, and they made her work at the typewriter very difficult. The practitioner at once spoke of purity and the allness of Spirit and asked her to give neither locality nor actuality in her consciousness to anything unlike God. The thought of spiritual beauty, grace, symmetry, and loveliness was held to, and the perfection of Mind and its immortal expression was seen to be the only reality.
