Eighteen years ago I turned to Christian Science for the healing of a nervous breakdown, which had overwhelmed me during a long period. I had tried numerous remedies, but they were of no avail. I was unable to take care of my two young sons or to attend to my household duties. My fear was extreme, and I had to struggle with the suggestion of doing away with myself.

Then I was led to a Christian Science practitioner. His patience and love were a beacon to me during those dark days. I commenced to study the Christian Science textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Many times there was a great sense of discouragement, but the practitioner reassured me that God, divine Love, is the only presence and power, and that fear is only a false suggestion. I clung steadily to the Bible citation (II Tim. 1:7), "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

The healing was slow, but I persisted in the realization that God is the healer of all diseases. I had faith and expectancy. The complete healing came, and with it a clearer understanding of God, who is the constant giver of all good.
