RADIO PROGRAM No. 216 - A Vital Decision

Speaker: Some years ago our guest faced a very serious crisis. She made a decision which not only solved the immediate problem but eventually changed her whole outlook on life and determined her future progress. I'd like to introduce Mrs. Betty Norse of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Mrs. Norse: One morning some years ago while I was doing a little washing, I caught my left hand in the wringer, and it was pulled through. My father had to take the machine apart in order to free me. I was very frightened and asked to be taken to the hospital. The injuries were severe. The hand was torn and the index finger almost severed. The doctor said the nerves had been damaged, and that even if the finger were saved, it would have no feeling and would be useless.

However, when I insisted that he sew it up instead of amputating, he did so. But when I went back several days later, he was disturbed by the appearance and said blood poisoning had set in. He said the finger would have to be amputated in order to save my hand and arm.
