My love for the Bible and my...

My love for the Bible and my acceptance of it as an authoritative instructor impelled me to begin a consecrated study of it to learn exactly what the requirements are for admittance to the heavenly kingdom. During this time of searching for Truth's laws, I was transferred to another office at my place of employment. A friendly relationship was established with my new co-worker, and shortly thereafter I remarked that I was surprised that she did not have to wear eyeglasses, inasmuch as her work was that of a writer and story critic. She replied that Christian Science had healed her of that necessity.

The thought instantly occurred, "If Christian Science is of God, what it has done for her, it can do for me." I inquired as to services in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and thereafter was a regular attendant at both the Sunday morning services and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. Also I learned about the Christian Science Reading Room and spent every possible hour there poring over the literature, particularly the writings of Mary Baker Eddy.

During the course of this study these were among the truths I learned: (1) divine Mind is a synonym for God; (2) seeing is really perceiving or understanding; (3) understanding is a quality of Mind; (4) no faculty or quality of divine Mind can be impaired; (5) as the image and likeness of God, I reflect the perfection of Mind. The result of the realization of these truths was that I was healed of the necessity of wearing glasses. This healing occurred in 1946 and has been permanent.
