Some years ago I became so ill that the doctors gave my case up as a hopeless one. I left the hospital and went home. Having learned about Christian Science some years before, I sent for Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and a Christian Science Hymnal. By that time my sight was failing me. I would lie on my bed, trying to read Science and Health. When I could not see, I would lay the book down for a while; then I would again try to read, doing the best I could. I kept right on that way till I had read the book through three times.

At times I would look through the Christian Science Hymnal. I did not know the notes; so I would pick out a hymn that went well with a tune I knew, and I would sing it to myself. As I continued to read and sing, I began to improve. I had weighed only one hundred and twenty-seven pounds, but thanks to Christian Science I regained my normal weight of one hundred and sixty pounds.

Moreover, my sight was restored, and all pain vanished. I could eat and sleep as well as ever. Constipation was also healed when I learned that it had no power to affect God's man. I cannot find words to express my gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for giving us this great truth of Christian Science, which is sure to make free.
