In Malachi we read (3:10)...
In Malachi we read (3:10), "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse." I feel that to give an expression of gratitude for blessings received is one way in which to bring my tithes into the storehouse.
My study of Christian Science began when I was in despair. I felt that I was a failure in all ways, and I could not see that life held one bit of happiness for me. In this state of mind I was urged to see a practitioner, and I did. I left her office with a song in my heart and a hope that I had never before felt.
There were problems still to be worked out, but I knew then that divine Love would help me. After this wonderful first meeting with Christian Science I adhered strictly to a statement that is found on page 167 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
I have had one outstanding healing of which I should like to tell. Shortly before I became a student of Christian Science I was troubled with arthritis, which made walking very painful. I was not only frightened by this condition, but also ashamed of my disability.
When I was introduced to the wonders of Christian Science, I began to consider means of working out this problem. I thought it would be a lengthy process, so little did I know of God's power. I asked a practitioner if she would help me for a while, and she complied. After she had worked prayerfully for me for a short period of time, I asked her to let me do the work.
One Wednesday evening as I sat in church it suddenly occurred to me that all fear of the disease and all manifestations of it had completely disappeared. No trace of arthritis has ever appeared since. To me this healing proved that Christian Science is not mere theory, but that "the word of God is quick, and powerful," as the Bible tells us (Hebr. 4:12).
I have received other healings too numerous to mention, and I have never had such constant joy in daily living. My gratitude can best be shown by proofs of Christian healing. For membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and for the inestimable privilege of class instruction, I am humbly grateful. — (Miss) Jeanette Ferris, Hammond, Indiana.
