The Mother Church Fund for Armed Services Activities and Postwar Emergencies

The Fund opened in January, 1942, known as "The Mother Church Wartime Fund," is now designated "The Mother Church Fund for Armed Services Activities and Postwar Emergencies." As heretofore, this Fund will be drawn upon to meet the needs of Christian Scientists in the armed services; to aid those willing to rely wholly on Christian Scientists for healing in veterans' hospitals; to conduct Christian Science services, give treatments, and help young Christian Scientists to become adjusted to their military experience.

Large quantities of authorized literature continue to be distributed to service personnel and veterans and placed in chaplains' offices, libraries, hospitals, and on board ship. Service Editions of the Baker and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy are also supplied free of charge. Aid is also extended from this Fund to civilians needing material assistance because of emergencies resulting from war.

This Fund meets the salaries and expenses of Christian Science Ministers and other workers. The number of these workers is increasing; they serve in the United States, Canada, Alaska, Australia, Hawaii, Korea, and the Pacific islands, as well as in England, Germany, and France.

Last year approximately a quarter of a million dollars was expended by The Mother Church for this important work. Our deep appreciation goes to the Field for its loving support. The urgent need continues. We are confident that Christian Scientists will joyfully respond to the opportunity of maintaining and expanding these fruitful activities of our movement. The following periodicals were founded by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and are published by The Christian Science Publishing Society, One Norway Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts, U.S.A:

The Christian Science Journal: Monthly in English; $4.50 a year, $2.25 six months, 40c a copy.

Christian Science Sentinel: Weekly in English; $4.50 a year, $2.25 six months, 15c a copy.

The Herald of Christian Science: Editions published monthly, $2 a year, 20c a copy: French and German. Editions published quarterly, $1 a year, 25c a copy: Dutch, Seandinavian (Danish, Norwegian, Swedish), Spanish-Portuguese-Italian, and English-Braille, Grade Two.

Christian Science Quarterly: Quarterly in English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Norwegian, Spanish, Swedish; $1.40 a year, 35c a copy. English edition is also available in vest-pocket $1.40 a year, 35c a copy; Readers' size, $1.65 a year, 45c a copy; in English-Braille, Grade $2.50 a year (12 issues), 25c a copy.

The Christian Science Monitor: Daily, except Sundays and holidays, in English (with religious article usually in one or two of fourteen different translations); $16 a year, $8 six months, 5c a copy.

How you Can Help

When you send a remittance to the Publishing Society, do you always send with your check or money order something to tell us what it is for? The "something" may be a periodical renewal notice, or the part of our bill on which your name and address are typed, or a brief note to tell us how you wish to have the payment used. We shall be grateful for you help in this way.

Visitors Welcome

Chestnut Hill., Mass.—Mrs. Eddy's late residence at 400 Beacon Street contains an exhibit room on the second floor where items tracing the growth of the movement from its earliest days to the present are displayed. This house is open daily, except Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m During the months of December, January, February, and March the hours are from 12.30 to 4 p.m It is closed on all holidays with the exception of April 19, May 30, June 17, and October 12. When these dates fall on a Sunday, the house is closed on Sunday and open on the Monday observed as the holiday. Cards of admission required, obtainable at Administration Building, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Monday through Saturday.

Lynn, Mass.—The former home of Mary Baker Eddy at 12 Broad Street is open to visitors daily, except Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. During the months of December, January, and February the hours are from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. It is closed on all holidays with the exception of April 19, May 30, June 17, and October 12. When these dates fall on a Sunday, the house is closed on Sunday and open on the Monday observed as the holiday. This house, including the little attic room where Mrs. Eddy completed her work on the first manusctipt of "Science and Health," has been carefully restored to present the highest possible point of historical accuracy.

Washington, D.C.—The Exhibit Hall on the second floor of the Christian Science Building, 1601 I (Eye) Street, N.W., is open free to the public daily, including holidays, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. On Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Year's Day the hours are the same as on Sunday. Among the exhibits providing glimpses of the origin, scope, and healing ministry of Christian Science are the Vitaramas showing the world-wide activities of the Christian Science movement and the "listening chairs" in which visitors may sit and hear selected recordings not only in English, but in French, German, and Spanish.
