THE WORD MADE PRACTICAL

When one who is in physical, moral, or mental distress asks for help in Christian Science, and the metaphysical treatment or prayer is begun, the greatest power in the universe is being brought to bear on the problem—the power expressed in the Word of God. We are told in the fourth chapter of Hebrews (verse 12) that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

In a dictionary under "logos," we find "word" defined as, "the actively expressed, creative, and revelatory thought and will" of God.

The thought and will of God are revealed through unhurried, undisturbed, quiet communion with God. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 15), "In order to pray aright, we must enter into the closet and shut the door." She adds, "In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must deny sin and plead God's allness."
