When
one who is in physical, moral, or mental distress asks for help in Christian Science, and the metaphysical treatment or prayer is begun, the greatest power in the universe is being brought to bear on the problem—the power expressed in the Word of God.
At a meeting in 1879, on motion of Mary Baker Eddy, it was voted, "To organize a church designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing".
To ensure that complete lecture notices be printed in the Sentinel, detailed information should reach the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald Editorial Department regarding lectures in the United States and Canada at least seven weeks before the date of the lecture; elsewhere, eight to eleven weeks.
While living in a country where there were no Churches of Christ, Scientist, I felt especially grateful to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for establishing the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," as the impersonal pastor of our church.
