In 1930 I was quickly healed of...
In 1930 I was quickly healed of weeping eczema, which had appeared all over my legs during the heat of summer. I worked as I had been taught in Christian Science, and the disease shortly disappeared. Its disappearance left the skin soft and smooth, and there has been no return of eczema.
For many years I have enjoyed the boundless blessings which the earnest study and application of Christian Science inevitably bring. Having enrolled in the Sunday School at an early age, I have used Science as a preventive as well as a cure for disease. Many troubles that commonly occur just did not come to pass because of my daily reliance on God for everything. I am grateful for the consecrated Sunday School teachers who gave me a firm foundation in pure, unadulterated Truth and who taught me how to destroy error and not to be afraid of it.
To me, life without Christian Science would be unthinkable. Science is so practical, dependable, and loving. It has taught me to acknowledge God in all ways, and He has indeed directed my pathway. I have been wonderfully sustained, provided for, and guided when important decisions had to be made.
While attending an entertainment I dropped my coin purse after buying a program and did not discover the loss until I reached my seat. I knew that nothing can ever get outside of God's omnipresence; so I was not worried. During the intermission an announcer called my name and asked me to go to the office. When I did, the purse was there with the contents intact. The joy of knowing that we can depend upon God for everything was far more satisfying to me than the restoration of the purse and its contents of money and keys.
It is out of gratitude for our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I give this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. No one will ever know what it cost her to give Christian Science to the world, but we can keep our gratitude flowing for her consecrated life and rich gift, the final revelation of Truth. I am so grateful for her work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," for the Church she established, and for its all-embracing activities.
Especially appreciated is the work of the Committees on Publication, for their efforts which have prevented passage of laws which would have restricted the free practice of our religion. I am grateful for my membership in The Mother Church and pray I will never take it too casually. Having lived on two other continents, I know what a comfort membership in this globe-circling movement is. How grateful we can be that we can never be separated from the mother love of The Mother Church!—(Mrs.) Elizabeth Guy Sharp, Los Angeles, California.
