GOODNESS IS GREATNESS

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

The alert young student of Christian Science recognizes the importance of turning to the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for guidance in his search for his right place and work.

The well-loved Bible stories of the spiritually-minded youths of long ago reveal that their successful careers were based on unselfed love. The Scriptures show that these youths did not seek to glorify self or to obtain material wealth and power. Though they were at times beset by trials and temptations from within and without, they did not yield to error's threats or promises. They were not swayed by the lawless impulses of the carnal mind. Nor were they mesmerized by its doubts and fears. Instead, they clung steadfastly to their highest understanding of God, good, relying implicitly on His power and willingness to deliver them from evil. Their consecrated efforts were crowned with true success. Each one found his rightful place, the place where he could best glorify God and serve his fellow men.

Guidance may be found in the words of Christ Jesus (Luke 12: 29-31): "Seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. ... But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you." Mrs. Eddy reaffirms the Master's loving counsel in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 560): "The great miracle, to human sense, is divine Love, and the grand necessity of existence is to gain the true idea of what constitutes the kingdom of heaven in man."
