RADIO PROGRAM No. 171 - Our Daily Bread
Speaker: In world where people often seem preoccupied seeking only material abundance, it's inspiring to hear an experience like the one our guest will tell you—a heart-warming experience which confirms the words of Christ Jesus, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." And now, Miss Virginia Brown of Boston, Massachusetts, will tell you her own experience.
Miss Brown: My own father died when I was two, and after a number of very unhappy years I was finally left alone to care for a younger brother and sister. I was only fourteen at the time, and the situation was so hopeless that the only thing to do was for my brother to go to a children's home and my sister to live with some other people.
The final breakup of our home came on a Sunday morning. I didn't know what else to do; so I went to the Christian Science Sunday School—I'd been going there with a girl friend. It just happened that I was the only one in the class that day, and my teacher saw that something was wrong—my eyes were red from crying. So I just poured out my troubles to her and the hopelessness of my outlook. Then she said, "You know, your Father-Mother God would never put you in a situation like this." The following day I went with her to see a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner talked to me and told me to turn to the Lord's Prayer every time I became disturbed about the situation.
