When I review thoughtfully the many blessings which Christian Science has bestowed upon me, I feel that an expression of gratitude is in order.

The Psalmist uses the word "gladness" with the word "oil." And to me, the phrase "the oil of gladness" (Ps. 45:7) has meant much more than an association of words. It has signified that gentle, joyous emergence from a material to a spiritual outlook, wherein one achieves the enlightened sense of true gratitude. As our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 485): "Emerge gently from matter into Spirit. Think not to thwart the spiritual ultimate of all things, but come naturally into Spirit through better health and morals and as the result of spiritual growth."

With this spiritual growth in mind I would acknowledge first the debt of gratitude I owe to our devoted Christian Science practitioners, who are willing and eager to dissolve disturbed, human beliefs, and to replace them with a wider horizon of spirituality. With the loving help of practitioners, sorrow, sickness, and frustration have been healed as I realized more clearly the truth that God is All-in-all.
