On page 254 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, our Leader assures us thus: "When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path." Such was my experience some years ago when our son was a baby. He awoke at midnight crying and was so distressed, even after I had declared the truth, that I wanted to call for help from a practitioner.

My husband, though not opposed to Christian Science, felt that the need should be met by a doctor. We had agreed to accept our help for ourselves as each saw fit, thereby avoiding infringement upon one another's privileges. This case with the baby, then, was the first instance in which a decision was to be made by us both.

We did not have a telephone in the home at that time, and because of the late hour, my husband went out to call, saying as he left that he felt he would like to call a doctor. Even as he left I felt free and unafraid and began to rest in divine Love. I declared that God, good, was directing and that within His loving presence all was in perfect control.
