In 1939 I suffered from blood poisoning, inflammation of the kidneys, and uremia. Because I was alone and had no one to take care of me, I was subjected to medical attention. According to the doctors' opinion, my condition was hopeless.

One doctor wanted to send me to a sanatorium. I pointed to the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and said, "With that, I am not afraid." A dear relative was sent for, and she took me to her home in another city. The next day a Christian Science practitioner came to see me. She took up prayerful work for me, and in a week I was able to get up.

I had not taken any medicine, nor had I adhered to the diet prescribed by the doctors. I talked with one of the doctors some time later, and although I told him exactly what had occurred, he was skeptical. "Then you were very lucky," he said. But I knew that my healing was not the result of luck. I am now seventy years of age and am in good health.

I am grateful to our Father-Mother God for His ever-present love; it enables us to rejoice and be glad at all times. Furthermore, I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for her great service to mankind and for the inspired writings she has given us.—(Miss) Maria Uhlig, Alta Gracía, Córdoba, Argentina.
