Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, admonishes us to give thanks to God. By giving thanks to God we are healed of discouragement and fear. And we come to expect only good; for God is good, and God is All.

Some years ago a cyst manifested itself on my body. At first I took little notice of it, but later I discovered that it had grown larger. I called on our family doctor, and after an examination he arranged for an operation, as he said the cyst might become malignant if it were left. I went home feeling much disturbed.

I had been somewhat interested in Christian Science, and as I had three weeks to wait before entering the hospital, I told my problem to a friend who was a Christian Scientist. She agreed to do prayerful work for me, and I said that I would see the doctor and tell him I would like to try Christian Science.
