DWELLING SAFELY

In the Scriptures are records of men who found safety by turning to God and acknowledging His presence and power.

When there is chaos all around, even the threat of destruction by physical forces, can we feel safe by trusting God? Christian Science assures us that God keeps us safe. It teaches that God is good, that He is divine Life, infinite Truth, and ever-present Love, that man is created in His image and likeness, loving, truthful, and ever-living. And Christian Science shows evil to be a suppositional lie, neither person, place, nor thing.

Mary Baker Eddy classifies aggressive mental suggestion and mental malpractice as forms of evil. In "Miscellaneous Writings" she answers the question, "What do you consider to be mental malpractice?" by saying (p. 31): "Mental malpractice is a bland denial of Truth, and is the antipode of Christian Science. To mentally argue in a manner that can disastrously affect the happiness of a fellow-being —harm him morally, physically, or spiritually—breaks the Golden Rule and subverts the scientific laws of being. This, therefore, is not the use but the abuse of mental treatment, and is mental malpractice."
