At one point in my business experience...

At one point in my business experience I found myself in need of employment. Because I had been taught to turn to God first in every emergency, I went to a Christian Science Reading Room. There I studied the weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. Then I called my teacher in Christian Science, told her of my need, and asked for one treatment. In addition to the help I received from this treatment, my teacher greatly encouraged me the following Sunday by greeting me with these three words: "All is well!"

I reviewed my class and association work and used the Concordances to the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings in studying references about place, supply, employment, and work. One of the most helpful citations I found was this one from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 135): "There is to-day danger of repeating the offence of the Jews by limiting the Holy One of Israel and asking: 'Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?' What cannot God do?"

Neither my wife nor I felt any anxiety about my lack of work, although I contacted three employment agencies, wrote a number of letters applying for work, telephoned, and interviewed various companies without finding employment. When we needed money to pay our bills, we thought of a source of supply that we had forgotten about, and by mailing a postcard, we received by return mail a check for more than enough to meet our immediate needs. Later, when we needed funds to finance two small business ventures, we found that we had a source of supply of which we had not been aware, and more money than we needed was available to us.
