"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable...

"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift" (II Cor. 9:15). To me, Christian Science has been God's "unspeakable gift" ever since I was placed in the Christian Science Sunday School when I was a small child. For the privilege of attending there, as well as for that of having my children and grandchildren attend, I am indeed very grateful.

Many healings have taken place in our family. I should like to mention a few that have been outstanding. Through her own efforts to use what she knew of Christian Science my mother was healed of an eve condition which was described as incurable. Her testimony appeared in the Sentinel of September 5, 1914.

A growth on my backbone was harmoniously removed through spiritual means alone. The practitioner who was helping me called my attention to the Bible passage (Hebr. 4:12), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." and also to Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error. and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." A few minutes later the growth came away.

I was told during my first year of married life that I could never have a child and that if I should try to have one. either the child or I, or both of us. would not survive. One year later I had a nine-pound baby daughter, and there were none of the difficulties which had been predicted.

My husband was healed a few years ago of an acute case of appendicitis, diagnosed by a physician who was called in compliance with the rules of my husband's company. During the dark hours we clung to the truths found on page 378 of Science and Health, especially this passage: "God never endowed matter with power to disable Life or to chill harmony with a long and cold night of discord." Through reliance on Christian Science alone he gained his freedom. These are a few of the physical healings we have had in our family, but the greatest benefit we have received has been that of a realization of God's tender care and protection. He is ever present, and we can turn to Him with complete confidence in every need.

This testimony would not be complete without expressing my gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, where participation in its activities has been a source of growth and joy. Class instruction has given me courage and strength to press faithfully on in times of stress. Words can never express my gratitude for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose selfless love for mankind has given us Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Alta F. Bush, Logansport, Indiana.

It is a pleasure to verify my wife's testimony. I was told by the doctor who had been called to examine me that my healing of acute appendicitis was most remarkable from a medical standpoint. When he saw me shoveling snow a month or so after my recovery, he asked if I would get in his car and go with him to his house so that his wife could see me. She had been a nurse before her marriage, he said, and when my case was discussed in their home, she had made the statement that I would never live. The doctor had replied, "Oh, you do not know how people who have Christian Science take care of a difficult situation." we are most grateful for our many Christian Science friends and for all the Christian Science practitioners, who so lovingly carry on their work.
