"LET THERE BE LIGHT"

"Let there be light," God said. And straightway was
Infinity revealed. No shade of sun,
Nor moon, nor star obscured the radiant throne
Around which spun the planets without pause.
Silence awhile. Then, soft as Maytime wind.
Music—song floating upward from the spheres,
"Praise God!" Ah, still it echoes down the years.
Still spring anew ideas of perfect Mind.

"Let there be light: and there was light." O Word
Majestic as creation's primal glory!
"Let there lie light: and there was light." O tongue
Of Spirit thundering forth divine accord!
Each day renews the transcendental story
Set to the rhythm of eternal song.
