It gives me a great deal of happiness...

It gives me a great deal of happiness to avail myself of this opportunity to express my gratitude for the healing efficacy of Christian Science and to re-echo the words of the prophet Isaiah (61: 10), "I will greatly rejoice in the Lord."

Several years ago I was informed by the doctors that it would be necessary for me to enter a sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis. At this time a friend endeavored to explain to me that Christian Science could heal me and that I need not accept the decision of the doctors. She very kindly gave me some copies of the Sentinel, but I was not the least interested and made no attempt to read them. Being a registered medical nurse, I felt that what medical science could not do for me, nothing else could accomplish; so I decided to enter the sanatorium as the doctors had advised.

But not all the seed had fallen by the wayside, for my mother remembered the words of my friend. After reading some of the testimonies of healing recorded in the Christian Science periodicals, she thought that Science might heal her of insomnia. Wishing to learn more about this new religion, she made an appointment with a practitioner. One visit was sufficient to convince her that she had found the pearl of great price, and her healing followed. She felt sure that Christian Science could also solve my problem.

My mother brought me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, '"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and asked me to read at least the chapter on Prayer. I read not only this but several other chapters. Then I decided that it might Inadvisable to have a talk with a practitioner; so it was arranged that one should visit me at the hospital. One by one my questions were answered. and I could see the mists clearing. No further medical treatment was given.

The practitioner was my most welcome visitor, and I began earnestly to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly each day. hen X rays were taken again, the doctors were amazed at the results, and declared that it was no longer necessary for me to remain at the institution. Many times during this experience I was tempted to become fearful and discouraged, but the practitioner inspired me to have confidence in the power of Truth to bring its demonstration to complete fruition. Through his prayerful work and my constant holding to Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 454), "Patience must 'have her perfect work,'" I was completely restored to health. This healing took place over ten years ago and has remained permanent.

I am so grateful to God for Mrs. Eddy, who revealed this truth to the world through her consecrated and unselfed life. Also I am grateful to the practitioner who so willingly helped me during those several months. Christian Science has brought many blessings into my life, including right companionship, home, and family, as well as membership in The Mother Church and a branch church. For these and for every activity of our movement, I am more grateful than I can say. —(Mrs.) Ruth Day, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
