Sixteen years ago frustration confronted me in all directions. Overindulgence in false habits, including drinking and gambling, aggravated my condition until my health began to fail. A friend, who later became my wife, told me that Christian Science offered a logical solution to the problems I faced, and she loaned me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Within three days I had read it through, and I found myself declaring the truth about the erroneous situations which heretofore had appeared so real and unchangeable.

Later, with the help of practitioners at various times. Science healed me completely, physically and morally, and my gratitude knows no bounds. Our family has experienced many healings since that time. They include those of ear infection, severe colds, and a gland disorder. Protection was experienced in a severe automobile accident.

During World War II and the years immediately following, we moved several times to different cities. Through our work in Science we always found a suitable house at a satisfactory price, even though there was an evidence of shortage and high prices. One such experience stands out in this connection. We had acquired several acres of unimproved land on the outskirts of a city, and we hoped some day to build a home. However, I changed positions and we moved to another city. I was promised an apartment there, but the expected vacancy did not develop. We were then without a home or the means to acquire one.
