I do not think it is possible to be brought up as a Christian Scientist without having countless convincing proofs of the healing and saving power of Christian Science. As I think of my childhood, I remember being healed quickly and permanently when I was struck in the eye with a metal-tipped arrow.

Since then I have learned more about God through the study and application of this Science and through the great blessing of class instruction. I have come to realize that one of the greatest benefits of Christian Science is that it gives me the spiritual understanding necessary to meet any need or problem that may arise. The preventive power of Truth has been demonstrated many times in my life. I am very grateful to Mary Baker Eddy for giving us the Science that makes such demonstration possible.

The protective and healing power of our Father-Mother God was proved to me in a way that impressed me deeply and filled me with gratitude. A taxi in which our two children and I were riding crashed into a car and then struck a second car. My head hit something, and I was knocked unconscious. On regaining consciousness, I found myself and our two-year-old daughter lying in the street between two cars. Our four-year-old son, who was still in the taxi, was crying as loudly as his younger sister.
