Demonstrating Supply in Branch Churches

"Giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us." Branch churches are continually proving the soundness of this statement by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, found on page 79 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

Recently a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, in England wrote The Mother Church: "During the past year our church made a very fine demonstration of supply. The need was to pay off a debt, the balance of an amount borrowed to purchase a new organ. After prayerful thought, those present at a members' meeting wrote on slips of paper (unsigned) the amounts they felt they could give in addition to their usual weekly contribution. When totaled, these amounts exceeded the sum needed. The promises were honored, so that at the end of the financial year, after all commitments had been met, there was a balance on hand. We feel that this demonstration was a further proof to us all of the efficacy of Christian Science to meet every need, and through this experience we have all gained a clearer concept of Church, forever maintained in Mind's affluence and perfection."

This church enclosed a generous gift for The Mother Church as a further expression of gratitude, evidencing its overcoming of lack and limitation.
