"KING OF THE MENTAL REALM"

Moral courage is a mighty weapon of the Christian Scientist. Understanding the wondrous revelation of man's present inseparability from the omnipotence and perfection of God, the Scientist is empowered with Christly courage to proclaim and prove the unreality of evil and the actuality of inexhaustible good.

Does not our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, assure us on page 327 of our precious textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Moral courage is requisite to meet the wrong and to proclaim the right"? It is this true sense of courage which, when taken to the bedside of the sufferer, enables one to declare with firm, healing understanding the spiritual facts of man's coexistence with God, who is man's Life and Mind. It is this same courage which enables one to face an apparent desperate financial, business, or home situation with steadfast serenity and spiritual buoyancy, strong in the knowledge that measureless good is the only reality. Spiritual ideas, necessary to the rectification of the human problem, will then flow into consciousness with far-reaching healing effects.

However weighty physical courage or force may appear to be, it never really overcomes fear. And why? Physical or animal courage, though it may often be acclaimed completely fearless, still evidences belief in evil as real and powerful. It cannot, therefore, wipe out fear or its effects. One with true courage, on the other hand, cannot and does not accept disease, sin, impoverishment, decrepitude, or war as real or known to God. One thus commences his spiritual treatment of any situation with positive, powerful declarations of God's almighty goodness which disarm and destroy fear. Physical courage impels one to set out to face and, if possible, to master these errors, even though the belief that they must be combated as much-to-be-feared realities has not been destroyed.
