I am grateful for the many times...

I am grateful for the many times I have been healed in Christian Science. About thirty-five years ago, soon after I began the study of Science, I was taken very ill and suffered day and night from such severe pain that it made me cry out. My mother was not interested in Christian Science, and she was so disturbed at seeing me suffer that she insisted on my having a doctor.

He reported to the family that the condition was gallstones and that I would have to be operated on immediately, or I could not live. I refused the operation and instead relied entirely on Christian Science. A practitioner worked prayerfully for me and spent much time with me. The doctor called my husband several times and advised him to take me to a hospital, if he wanted me to live. However, I still held firmly to God in the face of much persuasion to have medical help.

The healing was slow, but one night while the practitioner was sitting by my bed, I turned and told her that I was healed. I felt a great sense of quiet and peace in my thinking, even though the physical evidence had not changed. In half an hour every vestige of pain had left me, and I was free. I was grateful to recognize the healing in my thought before its outward manifestation appeared. To say that I am grateful for Science is putting it mildly. It means everything to me. I have proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."—(Mrs.) Flora C. Weil, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.
