Gratitude prompts this testimony...

Gratitude prompts this testimony as to the great good derived from the study and application of the truths in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Through the loving ministrations of Christian Science practitioners I have experienced healings of constipation, a bone felon, and nervous headaches. Discordant working conditions, fearfulness, and lack have also been overcome. My husband was healed in one week of what threatened to be a severe attack of pneumonia.

A better sense of home, companionship, and love have come to me as I have learned to pray (Luke 22:42), "Not my will, but thine, be done." Lost articles have been restored when I have let Love direct me. Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 454), "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way."

For years there had been a small growth on my body which had given no concern. About six years ago it began to grow, and it became very painful. One evening, I read Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 61 of "Retrospection and Introspection," where she refers to awaking from sleep feeling ill as a result of fear. Then she says, "But if you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science,— namely, that man's harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe,—you cannot awake in fear or suffering of any sort."

I studied to get a better understanding of this passage, and one night, as I lay thinking of the words, a great understanding flooded my consciousness. Of course, I reasoned, harmony cannot be invaded, because harmony is an attribute of God, Himself. I thought of the words in Mrs. Eddy's spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer on page 16 of Science and Health, "Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious." It was clear to me that the rhythm of the universe cannot be invaded, because it is the expression of an all-harmonious God, unchanged, unchanging, and unchangeable. A feeling of gratitude and great security flooded my being as I dropped off to sleep.

All thought of the growth passed away, and it was not until several days later that I remembered it. Then I found that it had vanished. I am happy to say there has been no evidence of it since.—(Mrs.) Octavia W. Strong, Kansas City, Missouri.
