For some time now I have had the desire to give my testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. In doing so I hope that it will help some weary wanderer in the desert of material thought, for over twenty-four years ago, when I was such a wanderer, I was given a cup of cold water in Christ's name.

At that time I was suffering from what the medical profession term duodenal ulcers, which caused me periods of absence from my business. A member of my family who had been studying Christian Science for some years and had received many healings presented Science to me. At first I refused to accept it and even ridiculed it, but in my extremity I accepted an invitation to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, and when I went I knew that here was something good. After I went the second time, I requested help from a Christian Science practitioner.

A doctor had done all he could for me, and I had been absent from business for five weeks; but after about seven days of treatment by the practitioner I returned to my business feeling better than I had felt for years. After studying the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I had a great desire to lead a better life. With the help of a practitioner I was freed from the desire for strong drink, as well as from the use of bad language, the gambling habit, and many other false traits of character.
