TRUE PREVENTIVE AND CURATIVE MEDICINE

Christ Jesus was keenly conscious of mankind's innate desire to obtain freedom from fear, suffering, and limitation. He also knew that an understanding of man's oneness and sonship with God, the Father of all, was the royal road to that freedom. Addressing not only his immediate followers but all who would emulate his words and works he said (John 8:31, 32), "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The teachings and practice of Christian Science adhere strictly to the remedial and redeeming methods employed by Jesus. As aforetime, so today spiritual healing, as practiced in Christian Science, is firmly planted on the premise that God, Spirit, and not matter, is the actual substance and consciousness of all true being. Man's substance is, therefore, spiritual and incapable of disease, discord, and decay. As St. Paul so meaningfully declared (II Cor. 3:17), "Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."

The time approaches when the spiritual fact of man's indissoluble unity with his Maker will be more generally recognized and demonstrated by mankind. Then it will be learned that every condition indispensable to harmony, including good health, has its origin in man's creative divine Principle, Love. Thus the comforting sense will obtain that health is not an unstable, unreliable condition of matter, but rather a quality of divine Mind expressed by man continually and abundantly.
