TRUE AFFLUENCE

Surely each one of us, knowing himself as actually a child of the loving Father-Mother God, may apply to himself the words of the father to the elder son in Jesus' parable of the prodigal (Luke 15:31), "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine." As we do this, we gain a true sense of affluence.

Mary Baker Eddy with her clear spiritual insight saw that abundant supply is to be found in Spirit. She shows us that we may find supply and that we may apply the healing truths of Christian Science to the problem of lack and to whatever other problems confront us in our journey from sense to Soul.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This is an arresting statement, but one which each can prove for himself, however difficult circumstances may appear. A student of Christian Science had the truth of this statement proved to her just before World War II. An already small income seemed much depleted, and family needs were pressing. One day as she was anxiously pondering the situation, she suddenly saw that as long as there was the need, there also was divine Love meeting it. Since God is Love and is always and everywhere present, there can be no situation in which divine Love is not available to supply abundantly all our needs, for Love is ever active.
