Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings"...
Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 69): "Christian Science is the unfolding of true metaphysics; that is, of Mind, or God, and His attributes. Science rests on Principle and demonstration. The Principle of Christian Science is divine. Its rule is, that man shall utilize the divine power." Having been blessed by a study and utilization of the truth that Christian Science brings to all who sincerely turn to it for help, I would like to share through the periodicals a healing which has been very helpful to me.
About six years ago I was awakened one night by odd sounds coming from the children's bedroom. I found my four-months-old baby in apparent distress with his breathing. Instantly endeavoring to curb the surge of fear that arose, I turned away from the crib and walked out of the room. In the hallway, while I was wondering what to do, even what to think, the word "progress" came to me. I was impelled to take the Concordances to Mrs. Eddy's writings and to look up the word. The study disclosed a false sense of limitation unconsciously admitted and entertained for a long time as true about myself. As I accepted the truth that progress is infinite, a law of God which can never be annulled or reversed by a false sense of stoppage, the situation in the other room was momentarily forgotten. When I remembered it, I felt sure the problem had been met.
Then again came suggestions of fear with the remembrance of similar experiences with children when I was working as a medical nurse in hospitals before I became a student of Christian Science. These false pictures were seen as untrue and not part of God's creation. I realized that the great Physician was closer to the child than any human being could ever get, and I left him completely in God's care. Then I felt at peace and was able to go to sleep. Awakening in the morning I found the babe almost well, and by noon of that day all traces of the difficulty had left him.
