On page 411 of Science and Health...

On page 411 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "If Spirit or the power of divine Love bear witness to the truth, this is the ultimatum, the scientific way, and the healing is instantaneous." I should like to relate an experience that made this statement of our Leader's more clear to me. One of the children in the family broke out badly with impetigo. Although I was fearful, I felt that I had an opportunity to prove what I knew of Christian Science.

Earnestly I studied the weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and endeavored to obey our Leader's instruction (Science and Health, p. 392), "Stand porter at the door of thought." However, the condition did not abate, but rather grew much worse. Having exhausted what I felt were my best efforts, I visited a Christian Science practitioner and willingly drank in the truths she voiced. As I felt God's great love for each of His children and glimpsed something of the infinite nature of divine Love, all fear dropped from me. The child was immediately healed, and there has been no return of the disorder. I realized that every effort I had made had been of value and that the truth had revealed full confidence in God's goodness as natural, dissolving fear and self-will.

This is only one of our family's many healings, some of which have been those of blood poisoning, warts, and unnamed disorders. Christian Science has proved adequate to correct for me problems in human relationships and employment. I rejoice in a fuller realization of Mrs. Eddy's true place and pray that I may daily live Christian Science more, loving God with all my heart.—(Mrs.) Andrietta Baldwin, Palo Alto, California.
